As I was sitting here looking out my window at the sun shining and the trees moving I see God with me. When you are living the single life at times you can feel alone. Well in actuality you are not alone you are just feeling lonely. There is truly a difference between the two words. Alone means having no one else present: on one’s own. Lonely means sad because one has no friends or company; without companion. Now you may look at this and say well they seem the same to me. Well lets take the time to really look at this. We will also look at what the Bible has to say about loneliness.
There may come a time in your life when you find yourself alone. Meaning during this time you are not in a relationship or dating at all. Understand that this time is the best time of your life. And I say this from a spiritual stand point. We tend to think at this point that we are at the end of the world because we don’t have a spouse. Well have you ever thought that you don’t have one because you keep choosing the wrong one. We must understand that God has already predestined this for us. As long as we continue to get in his way this will never come to pass. Every time you step in Gods way you prolong the blessing that He is trying to give you. But because we don’t want to be alone we continue to go out and pick for ourselves. Gen 2:18 ” Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” The word didn’t say for us to go out and find man for ourselves. God does not desire for us to be alone. He said so in His word. Living the single life is a time to be in relationship with God. During this time allow God to purge you. Purge meaning allow God to remove any unwanted feeling, memory or condition that is causing you not to be in relationship with Him. In this season become focused on Kingdom business. It should be all about you and God. During that time is when you realize that you are truly not ALONE!!
Now you may be overwhelmed with that sad feeling of loneliness. Isaiah 41:10 “fear not, for I an with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” During this time we depend totally on The Lord our God. Is this a hard time? Yes it is! As a single woman I understand how hard it is. You want to be able to have that companion to share how your day went. You want someone there to help you with the children. You don’t want to feel like you are running the house on your own. When you go to the movies or dinner you would love to be sharing that moment with a spouse. I truly understand all that goes through the mind at this point. And I know oh to well that feeling of loneliness. But I also understand that this is where I have to be so God can prepare me to be a wife for my husband. So I will continue to allow Him to purge me in this season. Also, I will continue to do what God is calling me to do and when He is ready my husband will come to me. Proverbs 18:22 ” He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtain favor from the Lord.” Allow God to prepare you to be that good thing that man finds!
